About this site
SaveToRAP exists because 7 million people were told to make a significant financial decision in 90 days, and the official tools make it harder than it needs to be.
We do one thing: implement the actual statutory formulas — RAP's AGI brackets and dependent deductions from P.L. 119-21, IBR's discretionary-income math with the current-year poverty guidelines — and let you compare your real options side by side, for free, without creating an account.
Our principles
- Independent. We are not affiliated with the Department of Education, any servicer, or any lender.
- No refinancing sales. We don't push private refinancing, which destroys federal protections and is wrong for most income-driven borrowers.
- Private by design. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your income and balance are never sent to us or stored anywhere.
- Sourced. Every guide links to the statute, CRS analysis, or Department guidance it's based on, with a visible last-reviewed date.
How this site is funded
Display advertising. Ads are clearly separated from content and never influence what the calculator tells you.
Corrections
Student loan rules are changing fast and we'd rather be corrected than wrong. Spotted an error? Tell us and we'll fix it and note the change.
